SonicPro Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 16, 2026
Effective: October 16, 2026
SonicPro (the "Service") is developed and operated by Fengwei Software ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app accesses on your iPhone, how that information is used and stored, and the rights you have.
SonicPro keeps everything on your device. There is no account, no sign-in, no ads and no tracking. We do not operate any server that receives or stores your measurements, recordings, photos, videos or location, and nothing you measure or capture is ever uploaded to us. The only two cases where information leaves your iPhone are described in sections 1 and 2: a location is sent to Apple to resolve a place name, and a purchase is handled by the App Store.
Please read this policy carefully. By using the Service you confirm that you have read and agree to this policy.
1. What the app accesses
- Microphone (required for measurement): sound is analysed in real time on your device to compute the level, FFT spectrum, octave bands, noise dose and the moving 10-second curve. Live audio is never stored or transmitted. Only if you start a recording is the audio written to a file in the app's own storage on your iPhone, where it stays until you delete it.
- Camera and microphone (optional, evidence camera): photos and 1080p video are saved into the app's own album inside the app's storage. The reading, timestamp, device model, place (if available), average / min / max and the last 10-second curve are burnt into the file as a watermark.
- Location — "While Using the App" (optional): used only to attach a short place name to a record or to the photo watermark. To turn coordinates into a place name the app calls Apple's system geocoder, so the coordinates are sent to Apple for that lookup; we never receive them and never store them on a server. The app never asks for "Always" location, does not track you in the background, and only looks up the location again after you have moved roughly 50 metres.
- A photo you take with the system camera (optional): when you attach a site photo to a record, the image you just took is copied into the app's own storage. SonicPro has no access to your photo library and never reads or modifies it.
- Device model: the model name (for example "iPhone 16 Pro") is read locally to label the evidence card and the photo watermark. It is never transmitted to us.
- Purchase information: SonicPro is a one-time purchase. The transaction is processed entirely by the App Store and Apple; we never see your name, email address or payment details, and the app contains no subscriptions and no in-app purchases.
- Files you export or share: when you export a recording as m4a or the level curve as CSV, or share a photo or video, the file goes only where you send it through the system share sheet. What happens to it afterwards is governed by the app or service you chose, not by this policy.
2. What we never do
- We never ask you to create an account or sign in, and we never ask for your name, email address, phone number or any other identifier.
- We do not operate a server that stores your data. There is no upload, no sync and no cloud account of ours: we simply receive nothing.
- The app contains no analytics, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising SDK and no other third-party SDK.
- No advertising identifiers, no cross-app or cross-site tracking, and no selling or sharing of data with advertisers or data brokers.
- No access to your contacts, calendars, health data, photo library, microphone history or any other app's data.
3. Where your data lives
- On your iPhone, inside the app's own private storage: the measurement history, recordings saved as m4a, and captures saved as jpg or mp4 with a small json file holding the related statistics. We keep no copy, because there is nowhere for it to go.
- Your own device backup: if you have iCloud Backup or a computer backup enabled for this iPhone, iOS may include the app's data in that backup. It is created and encrypted by Apple under your Apple ID, and we cannot access, read or restore it. SonicPro itself does not use iCloud to sync or back up your data.
- Apple is the only third party involved: it processes your purchase and, as described in section 1, resolves a location into a place name.
- We would disclose information if the law required it — but in practice we hold no data about you that could be disclosed.
4. Permissions and how to change them
You can change every permission at any time in Settings → SonicPro (entry names may differ slightly between iOS versions):
- Microphone: turning it off stops the meter, spectrum, dose and recording from working at all.
- Camera: turning it off prevents watermarked photos and video.
- Location: turning it off (or choosing Never) only means records and watermarks show no place name; every other feature keeps working.
You can also review these permissions in Settings → Privacy & Security.
5. Retention and deletion
- You are in control of everything the app stores: delete individual records, captures and recordings inside the app, and deleting the app removes all of its local data from your iPhone.
- Exported CSV and m4a files, and photos or videos you have shared, live outside the app — delete them wherever you saved or sent them.
- Because we operate no server, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf and nothing to request from us: no copy exists on our side.
6. Your rights
- Access and portability: everything the app knows is visible in the app, and you can export the per-second level curve as CSV or a recording as m4a at any time.
- Erasure: delete any record inside the app, or uninstall the app.
- Withdraw consent: switch off the microphone, camera or location permission in system settings whenever you like.
- Object and restrict: since we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing further to restrict — you are still welcome to contact us and we will confirm what we hold, which is nothing.
7. Children's privacy
The Service is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and in fact we collect no personal information from anyone. If you are a guardian and believe a minor has used the Service, please contact us and we will respond promptly.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Updates are posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date, and material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
